About Natural Resources Institute (NRI), University of Greenwich

With partners from local food industries to global research institutes, NRI is proud to be supporting the Taste of Kent Awards. Based at the University’s Medway campus in Chatham Maritime, we carry out specialist research, development and teaching with a focus on food, agriculture, environment, and sustainable livelihoods.

Our dynamic postgraduate programmes with a focus on food include Food Innovation, MSc and Applied Food Safety and Quality Management, PGDip/MSc – both with the option of an ‘Industrial Placement’. This one-year internship gives our students real-world experience with a relevant employer in government, food supply, manufacturing, hospitality, or retail.

Our lecturers are world-renowned researchers with industry experience across the food sector, using their expertise in cutting-edge projects such as ‘Growing Kent & Medway’, an initiative focused on strengthening the horticulture, food and drink industries of the region through research, innovation and enterprise.

NRI’s team from our food-related postgraduate programmes, research projects, Food and Markets Department and the new state-of-the-art Medway Food Innovation Centre are connoisseurs of Kent’s fresh produce and innovative products and look forward to celebrating all the winners.
